Maureen Muich

In Loving Memory

Muich, Maureen Marie

June 4, 1934 - February 12, 2025

It is with the deepest sadness and heartache that our family shares of the passing of Maureen Marie Muich, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, wife, sister, and dearest of friends. Maureen passed away comfortably at rest on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 in Waterloo, Illinois. Maureen was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 4th, 1934 to Frank and Irene Cunningham, sister to Patricia Francis Cunningham.

Maureen’s favorite roles in life were being a mother and grandmother. Professionally, she held roles as a babysitter, worked at Arthur Enterprises (1950-1953), Warfield Shop (1953), and was the secretary to the President and Vice President of Velvet Freeze (1953-1962).

Maureen was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided every aspect of her life. She found great joy in prayer and service of others. She and her husband, Robert, married on September 13, 1958, sharing and instilling these values in their family.

Her family and friends will remember her as the most kind, patient, empathetic, and easy-to-love person they will likely ever encounter. Her presence will always be regarded as a warm hug, which felt familiar even to a complete stranger. She always found friendship in those that crossed her path. Known for her kind soul, joyful smile, thousands of Christmas cookies, and delicious recipes, Maureen always brought life and light to everyone. She always remembered to send a card for loved one’s anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays, never missing an opportunity to celebrate others.

As a proud and devoted grandmother, she was front row at every musical and chorus concert. During the summer months, she hosted the most decadent tea parties in her sunroom for her grandchildren complete with finger sandwiches and plastic crowns. She was one of the greatest listeners – recalling even the tiniest of details with genuine care and interest.

With her daughter, Susie, and her grandchildren in tow, she took “the girls” on countless trips to McDonald’s, the Zoo, the Magic House, the Science Center, or surprised Grandpa at work. Every errand with her was always an adventure.

Maureen was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Robert Michael Muich I, and her beloved daughter, Kathleen Marie Muich. She is survived by her children, Robert Michael Muich II (Patricia Ann), Gregory Gerard Muich, Susan Marie Muich, her grandchildren Chelsea D’Aniello Muich (Sam D’Aniello), Michaela Fell (William Fell), Rebecca Muich, and cherished granddog – Lulu Penelope Muich.

Services; Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois, Wednesday February 19, 9:30 AM to Assumption Catholic Church (4725 Mattis Rd. 63128) for 10:00 AM mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 4:00-8:00 PM.

  2. Mrs. Muich will be greatly missed. There are too many wonderful memories to list here. She was like a second mom to both Ron and me. Her faith has been truly an inspiration to us to this day. May she rest in peace.
