Ostendorf, Edward Martin

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 86 on March 5, 2022, due to Lewy Body Dementia.  Survived by his wife, Phyllis (nee Marks).  Dear father of the late Cindy Henkemeyer, Annette (Roy) Christopher, and Gina Dixon; stepfather of John (Ann) Hallquist IV and Krista (Bob) Ryffel; brother of Joan Richardson, Ron (Gini) Ostendorf, Carol Rahmoeller and Celine Ostendorf; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Cel Ostendorf.  He was a friend to many and will be missed by all.

Ed’s engineering career was in the aircraft industry, retiring from Boeing in 2000.  He was an avid football and racing enthusiast, specifically, he loved NASCAR and Formula One.  He attended time trials at Indy with his best friend, John, for over 40 years. The McBride class luncheons, hosting neighborhood Christmas & pool parties, and mischievous pranks with his neighborhood buddies were some of his favorite times.

SERVICES: Memorial mass will be celebrated at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Road on Sunday, March 13, 11:00 a.m.  Private interment at Sunset Cemetery.  Donations may be made to: Full Circle MO Feral (11852 Twillwood Drive St. Louis, MO 63128).

  3. I assisted Phyllis & Ed in 2018 to get the neighborhood cats fixed
    When we first met… Ed would complain about those damn cats Phyllis was feeding but he would also have a cute stories about the cats.

    At least once a month I’d swing by Phyllis and Ed’s for newspapers and hear Ed telling stories about shaggy or the mean black panther cat.

    He loved the cats as much as Phyllis does Full Circle MO Feral is humbled that they picked our charity to honor Ed’s memory.

    Phyllis you are in our thought and prayers through this difficult time.

  5. Brad and I were blessed to start living across the street from Ed and Phyllis in 1991. We did a lot of things with the and were included in many of the neighbor antics.. We will miss Ed’s sense of humor and knowledge and friendship so much. Phyllis we are 5 minutes away and can be at your beck and call. if you ever need company let us know.. LOVE YOU

    we weren’t at Ed’s service, you and he were in our thoughts and

    We didn’t see each other very often, but when we did it was
