Peters, Mary Katherine “Kay” (nee Vargo), Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Beloved wife for 48 years of Michael J. Peters; loving mother of Paula (Doug) Weaver and Pattia (Brian) Wagener; devoted Maw Maw of Brian and Katie Weaver, Paige, Brayden and Bryce Wagener; dear sister of Ann (Gary) Toohey of Jefferson City, MO and Greg (Pattia) Vargo of Farmington, MO; sister-in-law of Bill (Mary Lou) Peters; our dear cousin, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, neighbor and friend to many.
Predeceased by her parents, Leonard Vargo and Kay Buckley, grandson Rory Weaver, in-laws Sally Peters and Joan (Frank) Reznicek.
Kay was raised in Farmington, Missouri. After high school, she moved in with her aunt & uncle in St. Louis to attend Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technique. Upon graduation, she began a 25 year career working for the late Dr. Cecilia Reichert; and would end up in the healthcare field the rest of her life. Kay spent the last 15 years working with her daughter at Keller Apothecary. When she wasn’t working, she was busy enjoying time with her grandchildren, going to the movies, doing water exercises at the YMCA, attending railroad retiree meetings, or “bageling” with her crew at Bread Co on Sundays after church. Kay faced every day with strength and perseverance. She will be dearly missed by all.
A special thank you to Seasons Hospice (Dawn) and caregivers Adrienne, Jeanette and Latasha for their loving care.
