86, passed away peacefully March 10, Beloved husband of Virginia Pridy (nee Jackson), dear father of Jennifer (Joe) Flanakin and the late Lisa Gail Pridy. Devoted grandfather of Lauren (Alex) Greco, Joe Ryan (Emily) Flanakin and Jonathan Ward Flanakin. Brother and brother-in-law to Jeane (Tom) Lawson, the late Roger (Harolene) Pridy and the late Sheryl Pridy. Ruth (Bob) Beelman the late John (Arlene) Jackson and the late George (Betty) Jackson. Loving uncle to Terry, Kyle, Krista, Ruth Ann, Alan, Steven, Mark, Susan, John, Sarah, Doug and Greg.
Born in 1932 in Sylva, MO to June (Ward) and Roscoe Pridy. Pete graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Education and a Masters in Education from University of Missouri- Columbia in 1952. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He became the High School Principal in Bloomfield, Mo. from 1955-57 and then served as the Kennett, Mo. High School Principal from 1957-60. Afterwards he completed the doctoral program at the University of Mo. (Mizzou) in 1961.
He was an educator for over 30 years. Pete began in the Lindbergh School District in 1960 and was the first Principal at Truman Middle School. He then became Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Lindbergh High School Principal. Go Flyers! Pete retired from the Lindbergh District in 1987. After retiring from Lindbergh, he continued to serve the education community by recruiting students for Southeast Mo State and Supervising student teachers for the University of Mo -St. Louis. He served as an adjunct Professor at UMSL for several years. Pete was also the Principal of United Community in Christ School in St. Louis.
He remained active by becoming a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Crestwood and a member of the Crestwood Sunset Hills Kiwanis Club. He was an active church member, teaching Sunday School throughout his adult life.
Services: Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., Monday, March 19, 10:00 a.m. until the funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Donations to the American Cancer Society appreciated. Interment J.B. National Cemetery.
