  1. The best mother I could’ve hoped for. She gave me what I needed when I needed it. Kind and tough she was instrumental in helping me become successful. My favorite quote: “Bend over and pull yourself up by your bootstraps.” She loved me dearly and I’m so grateful for everything. Rest now momma. Say hi to everyone, including Dondi and Toydale. I will see you on the other side and we’ll make apple butter and plant some flowers.

  2. Velma was like a second mom to me, she was my aunt but she treated me like her daughter. I will always cherish the memories I have of her being there for me during my childhood. I loved her very much.

  3. Diane & Family,
Sorry for your loss. Velma was a very special mom/grandma with a big heart. That big heart she share with others as well. As you know she was one of my favorites. Velma was challenging at times. We had a special bond, besides us both being Leo’s and liking Mickey Mouse. It was my pleasure to care for her. I will miss her but have so many memories. I will miss those conversations of momma and daddy. Then there were days I was momma. I will think of her every time I see a cooking show. I am so glad I was able to be with her in her last hours before she went to meet the lord. Now she is at rest. A well deserved rest. Now she is our angel. If you need anything just call me.
    Forever in my prayers,

  6. Dear Diane,
Thank you for sharing your mom. She would roll into the activity room and we would have cookies and look through magazines together. She told me about her love of the St. Louis Cardinals and how she enjoyed making former meals. When I was in my office working she would venture down the hall and I would her talking to her momma and daddy.
When I would have music in at Manor Grove she would tap her feet and clap her hands. She would get that beautiful smile that lite up her face and whoever was lucky enough to be near her. She was feisty in her ways I could only imagine her as a young lady.. I’m sure she was a spit fire…
Take care and may god hold you and your family close in this time of sorrow. Your mom is watching from heaven and someday you will be reunited until then share all your sweet memories with everyone which means her spirit will live forever. RIP Velma …
    Live,
    Kathleen
