In Loving Memory

Schwerb, Barbara Jean

May 14, 1953 - December 10, 2024

Barbara Jean Schwerb (nee: Schaumann) passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024 at the age of 71 following a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Born and raised in St. Louis to George and Norma Schaumann, Barb’s career included 35 years in the banking industry at Jefferson Savings & Montgomery Bank.

A devoted mother & sister, Barb is survived by her children, Steve, Scott, and Shannon (Nathan) Pfitzer, and her seven siblings, Michael, Margie, Patty, Peggy, Eugene, Chris and Georgia.  Her grandchildren, Abigail (13), Reagan (10), Colton (8) and Jackson (4) were the treasures of her life. Even while fighting cancer Barb spent most of her time entertaining and doting on the grandchildren by creating clever crafts, baking sweets, and romping on the floor amongst Legos, Barbie dolls, and toy cars and trucks. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was so proud to be their “Gaga.”

To know Barb was to admire a person who was completely natural, direct, and honest with her friends and family. She was as generous with her heart as she was in offering her time and help whenever needed. Barb fought cancer’s challenges with fearless strength, spirit, and her Christian faith, never complaining, not once. Barb leaves an imprint on all who knew her and we are thankful that she, at last, is with her heavenly father.

Services: Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 19 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 5252 Lindbergh, followed by a memorial service to follow at 6:00.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Salem’s Cancer Support Ministry.  Checks can be sent to 8343 Gravois St. St, Louis, MO 63123.

Condolences
