  2. “Aunt Vange” was my mother’s best friend growing up, my godmother and a wonderful role model all my life. I have so many good memories of times with her. My condolences to her family.

    • I remember the times our families were together on visits to each other’s homes. Always a lot of fun and laughter. Even in Mom’ final years, when I visited she would tell stories of her friendship with your mom. Good memories for her to remember and share. You were a wonderful Goddaughter to our mother.

  3. GG was one of the best people I have known. She was truly the best grandma and great grandma. She had an innate ability to make you feel so welcomed and loved. We always looked forward to visiting her to play cards, play ball, hear stories, solve jumbles, watch baseball, and have treats. Maya Angelou said that “people will never forget how you made them feel.” GG’s positive spirit, light, and love was a gift that I am blessed to have known and will keep forever in my heart.

  4. This amazing woman was the best mother-in-law I could hope for. When I first met her, I asked what I should call her. She said, “Call me Mom!” And I did for 53 years. Now she has earned her reward in Heaven beside her beloved husband and their stillborn daughter, Mary Jane, as well as their son, my husband Steve. Blessed be their reunion with the Lord of Life

  5. It was a blessing to be her favorite (only) daughter-in-law. This beautiful, kind, generous woman made everyone feel welcome and important. She and Sol generously opened their home and hearts to family, friends and neighbors. They set a strong example of faith and service to their community. She often encouraged us to be happy for her when she died, and we are. But still, we mourn for our loss. See you in Heaven, GG!

  7. Andy and I have very special memories of Vange. She always welcomed us into her home. When we brought the children, she told us to take care of ourselves because she was playing with the children. Our middle daughter, Hope has the middle name of Evangeline because I thought it was such a beautiful name and it reminded us of that beautiful lady. Vange gave Joy, our third daughter, her favorite “squeezy” (blanket) when Joy was born. There is still a bit of that blanket left. Andy spent many Saturdays at the Solovitz home hanging out with Emil and Steve. So many special memories!

  8. I remember going to Sol and Vange’s home on Saturday nights with my parents Howard and Jackie and others for their weekly card parties back in the early to mid 1960’s. While the women enjoyed their High Ball’s and whiskey sours there was always plenty of Schlitz beer for the men. The kids would sit in the living room watching TV (Wrestling at the Chase/Roller Derby) and had our kiddie cocktails of Seven Up and cherry juice! I never saw Vange without a smile on her face as she was so warm and friendly with everyone she encountered! She is also my sister Kim’s Godmother because she was the absolute best choice! RIP Vange, I’m sure there was quite a gathering for you at Heavens Gate!

  9. Aunt Vange, what can I say. Some of my fondest memories growing up we’re visiting you and Uncle Sol at your home. I remember one time where I went there with Grandma Carolyn and unannounced. The look of surprise and joy that I saw on your face when I was still just a kid that I was there was one of the best feelings in the world. I’ll always cherish our talks and playing cards together, and all your yummy baked goods with your famous saying everytime you gave me some. “Well is it delicious or it delicious”. RIP, thanks for the memories, love u always.
