Speis, Joan A. (nee Peters)

Born May 8, 1935, to Hedwig “Hattie” and Louis Peters, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on September 10, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones.  She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Louis Peters, beloved husband of 31 years Donald E Speis Sr. and her step-son Michael R Speis; loving mother of Melanie K Brynleifsson, David L Speis, Gale G Wessling Jr. (Ann), Donald E Speis Jr. (Angela); cherished grandmother of Nolan (Vanessa), Hunter, Kayla, Hannah (Tanner), Connor, Isabelle, Lauren (A.J.), Neil, Rachel (Ryan), Adam (Sarah), Hilary (Jay); great-grandmother to Chloe, Riley, Abigail, Arianna, Carmen; dear aunt, cousin and friend to many. 

Services: Visitation will be at Kutis Funeral Home South County, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd on Thursday, September 15 from 4-7 p.m.  Funeral Services will be on Friday, September 16 at 10 a.m. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Association St. Louis Chapter. In memory of Donald E Speis Sr.

  5. Joan was an integral part of our ladies’ group called the Daring Dames, and she was lively and SO beautiful when we gathered over root beer floats just ten days before she passed. Joan will be greatly missed. I’m praying for her children, grands, and greats at this very difficult time.
