IN LOVING MEMORY
Spinzig, Brenda J.
March 11, 1962 – January 28, 2025
The family of Brenda Jean Spinzig is saddened to announce her passing on January 28, 2025, at the age of 62 years. She was the loving daughter to Robert (deceased) and Mavis Spinzig, sister to Brian and Victoria (Lorino) Spinzig, Bruce and Waynette (Perkins) Spinzig, and Beverly and Shawn Shannon. Brenda was a beloved aunt to Melissa (Daniel) Hoormann, Jessica (Thomas) Marischen, Angela (Randi) Spinzig, Jennifer (Jerry) Minton, and Kyle and Mark Leininger, Kevin, Colin, and Matthew Shannon.
Brenda attended Southeast Missouri State University with her high school and lifelong friend, Nancy (Murphy) Robertson. Brenda graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Her love and joy for being around children shined not only in her work but whenever she could be with her nieces and nephews. Later, when an injury caused her to make a career change, Brenda went back to school to earn a master’s degree in Computer Science. She then worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years until illness forced her retirement.
Throughout her life, Brenda’s joy came from family and her closest friends. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and was overjoyed to babysit, purchase gifts (particularly in her signature purple or Winnie the Pooh characters), play games (always by the rules regardless of what age the children were), and spoil them rotten!
Brenda had a sharp mind and knew her job well. She enjoyed the simple things in life and endured some of the toughest physical trials in her health with little complaint.
On Tuesday, January, 28th, God, her dad, Bob Spinzig, her grandparents, Harvey and Muriel Spinzig, Milton and Doris Paglusch, her uncle Ward Paglusch, her uncle Pat Silver and cousin Peggy (Silver) Kenney, her aunt Audrey (Spinzig) Meyer, and Uncle Harvey and Aunt Shirley Berg, all welcomed Brenda home. She will be greatly missed but we know that she is watching over us snuggled in a purple hoodie, warm sweatpants, and fuzzy slippers. With heavy hearts and an abundance of love, we have set her free.
A service will be held in Brenda’s honor on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Assumption – Mattese Parish (4725 Mattis Road, St. Louis, MO 63128). Church will open at 9:30 a.m. with mass at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
I love you, Stister! 💜
Purple made life Bearable, and you made life special. May God welcome you home with open arms and all the people and things you love waiting for you.
Beautiful soul. You will truly be missed!
My very deepest sympathy to all the family and especially to my dear friend Mave of grade school days (1943 kindergarten). My heart is with you. Please remember there is a place for all of you that you can stay as long as you like—-it’s safe and you never have to pay rent ——-it is in my heart. Love , Marlene Rabe.
Winnie the Pooh, watermelon chapstick, gooey butter cake, and anything purple (the best color) will always make me think of you. And, of course, any time I see that twisty slide at the Magic House. I’ll miss you, Aunt Brenda!
We send our deepest condolences to you and your family at this time. Brenda will be truly missed at Mulqueeny Eye Centers. She was one of our best patients and we all will miss her smile and laugh. May god bless her with her Father again. Many thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
My heart is breaking. Although we lived many miles apart, we worked together and continued our friendship after leaving SBC. Although we weren’t able to talk much these last years, when we were able to catch up we spent hours on the phone. I reached out today, 3/11, to call my friend on her birthday, only to find out she had passed just days before my birthday. Rest in peace my dear friend. I will miss you.
