Thompson

In Loving Memory

Thompson, Jim

September 24, 1939 - February 15, 2025

Quietly and comfortably, February 15, 2025. Adoring widower of Gerry, supportive father of Ren and Dave, Kindly Old Grandfather (KOG) to Maggi and Zack, and great-grandpa to Arthur and Maisie. Brother to the late Jean Auten and special friend to the late Sharon Rohrbach. Trusted and valued friend, co-worker, volunteer, and consultant.

Avid golfer, inveterate reader, seasoned traveler, and indiscriminate online shopper.  Playful curmudgeon, unfailing optimist, meticulous analyst, and sane hockey dad.  Comfortable on the leading edge of technology, unless that technology was a cell phone.

Polite and dignified, but never too far from silliness. Once fielded an all left-handed infield of 10 year olds solely because he thought it’d be funny. Happy to drop a wildly inappropriate remark into casual conversation, then sit back and watch the reactions.

One of a kind in every positive sense of the phrase. Leaves behind a legacy of love and joy.

SERVICES:  Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel (10151 Gravois Road Affton, Missouri 63123) Friday, February 21, 12:30 p.m.  Interment Sunset Memorial Park.  Visitation Thursday 5 – 9 p.m.

  1. I worked with Jim at Union Electric. I have many fond memories of my department under his leadership. All I keep thinking is that he is with Geri again. RIP Jim.

  2. I remember Jim fondly, the way he and Gerry would just shake their heads when us kids would come in late after pulling off some goofy prank or having a few underaged pops. So lucky to have known you Jim,

  5. Been in Miami for all of February and not reading my mail because I get too much spam. So belatedly I have to say I’m so sorry about this. Betty and I had such a long history with Jim & Gerry going back to the kids hockey days. More recently it was cruises and so so much theater and country music. Always a ball. What a great guy and what a great couple. Of course he’d always make some crack that made, you feel guilty for laughing, but Gerry would always chime in with “Oh Jim”. A lot of my best memories involve those two.
