John Wirick

In Loving Memory

Wirick, John Julian

March 14, 1938 - December 20, 2024

John is lovingly remembered by his friends and family including his four sons: Chris (Tammy), Dave (Michelle), Tim (Michele), and Terry (Kim), as well as many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

John J. Wirick was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to James K. Wirick and Kate M. Wirick (Fennell), he was one of five siblings, including Jane (Dennis), his twin brother Jim (Marilyn), Nessie, and Frank (Pam). John proudly graduated from Maplewood High School and volunteered to serve honorably in the Army and Army Reserve. John worked at St. Louis Lithography for over 30 years and was well respected in the industry.

In 1960, John married Anne M. Johnson, and together they raised four energetic sons and spent many summers camping, boating, and tinkering with bikes, motorcycles, and cars, all while building great memories. John and Anne parted ways after two decades.

He embraced his single life for 20 years building lasting friendships and memories before finding love again with Nancy Mocker. In 2000, they tied the knot and enjoyed a vibrant life filled with family, friends, golf, casinos, travel and adventure. They loved being on the water, splitting their time between St. Louis, Fort Myers, Florida, and Lake of the Ozarks.

For the last 18 months of his life, John valued every moment with his sons and their families. He continued to stay positive and kept his keen sense of humor, even as his health declined. He was able to avoid  big surgeries and nursing homes- lucky to the very end.

He was a lover of adventure; always off traveling, biking, fishing, golfing or boating. John was an inspiring teacher who shared his passions with his sons, grandchildren, and friends, leaving a lasting legacy of joy and fulfillment.

John Wirick will be missed and remembered fondly.

Visitation will be held Friday January 10th 3pm-7pm at Kurtis funeral home Affton Chapel

  3. John and I fished together in the past. Such pleasant times. He was a real gentleman. Everyone seemed to find him easy to be around. And he could fish pretty well, also.

  4. Chris, Dave, Tim and Terry,

So sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. I have many happy memories of Eyecrosser fishing tournaments with him and the good times shared at his place in Anthony Hollow. His smile was infectious no matter what the conditions. Rest in peace John.
