Fitzgibbons, Thomas Earl

February 10, 1939 - July 12, 2025

Thomas Earl Fitzgibbons, 86, died suddenly on July 12, 2025.

Tom was born February 10, 1939, in St. Louis, MO. to the late Thomas and Johanna (nee Kessler) Fitzgibbons.

Tom graduated from Washington University in 1960 where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and worked tirelessly as a claims adjuster with American Family Insurance for several years. Tom went on to graduate from St. Louis University in 1968 and soon after became a successful and highly respected practicing attorney until his retirement.

Tom is survived by his wife Margaret (Peggy) Fitzgibbons and his children Michael (Stacey) Kris Chkautovich (Misha), Timothy (Christina); as well as his stepchildren Brenda Owens (Mark), Patricia Owens and Melissa Owens.

Tom was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to his 17 grandchildren and 16 (17 in October) great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and loving older sister Patricia Ailer, his stepdaughter Susan Blust, his grandson Sean Fitzgibbons.

Tom was extremely proud of his Irish heritage, even traveling to visit Ireland. Tom enjoyed traveling to all places, domestic as well as internationally. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of all sports. In his later years, Tom was a dedicated member of the South County YMCA, rarely missing a swim class or other activities.

SERVICES:  Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel (10151 Gravois Road Affton, Missouri 63123) on Thursday, July 17, 10:00 a.m.  Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.  Visitation Wednesday, July 16, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
