Gordon Roger Cannon, 66, passed away on December 28, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on August 14, 1959.
Roger dedicated his life to helping and protecting others through a long and honorable career in law enforcement. He began his service with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office before continuing his career with the Indiana State Police. During his time with the ISP, Roger served as a Trooper and later as a driving and CDL instructor and inspector. His commitment to safety, professionalism, and mentorship left a lasting impact on those he worked with and the communities he served. He retired with pride after many years of service.
Outside of his career, Roger found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time in Florida, cherished his dogs Casper and Sissy, his horses, and he enjoyed the open road on his motorcycle. He was known for his steady presence, kind heart, and devotion to his family.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Cannon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Corby Esarey Cannon; his mother, Patricia Cannon; his son, Joshua Cannon; and his sisters, Cindy Thompson (Bill) and Julia Moore (Steve). He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Ashley, her husband Clayton, and his two beloved granddaughters, Emery and Ella, who brought him immense joy, Stepson Jack Fouts and grandson Syllas.
Roger will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, love, and quiet strength will live on in the lives he touched.
Gravesite rites will be performed in Petersburg IN at a later date.
