Barbara “Barb” Jean Miesner (nee Wilson) entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Monday, March 23, 2026 at the age of 82. Beloved wife of Wayne Miesner; devoted mother of David Miesner (Christine), Steven Miesner (Tracey) and Mark Miesner (Laura); cherished grandma of Zach, Brock, Ella, Mary Kate, Gavin, Gretchen, Owen and Kendall; dear sister of Virginia McNeal (nee Wilson). Barb is also survived by many other dear relatives and great friends.
Barb was born in the summer of 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri to delighted parents Forest and Frances Wilson (nee Robien). Throughout her life, Barb was known for her friendly, curious and humorous demeanor. Always laughing and “cutting-up” with those around her. Barb’s laugh could be heard from miles away, along with her distinct voice and coined phrases she would say often. Barb was a wife and mother first, but also worked in the medical industry as a secretary and office assistant for many years.
Outside of family and work, Barb loved to travel. She would frequently book adventures to surprise Wayne with upon his return from work saying, “I got us a deal.” She traveled abroad to parts of Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Egypt, and the Caribbean. Family vacations to Hawaii, Niagara Falls and other US hot spots were a common practice for Barb, Wayne and her children.
Above all, Barb is remembered for the devotion and love she had for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She kept her family close and brought laughter and memories that will be cherished for years to come. May she rest in eternal peace.
Barb’s wish for many, many decades was to donate her body to SLU’s Center for Anatomical Science and Education. She talked about this frequently and was truly honored to help this organization with their ongoing research and education programs for physicians, and other health science professionals.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to BrightFocus Foundation. This foundation is on a mission to cure Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Barb’s Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 10:30am at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church (4900 Ringer Rd., St. Louis, MO 63129). Visitation will start at 9:30am. Following the service, a Celebration of Life reception will be held at the adjacent Parish Center at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church.
