In Loving Memory

Lubsch, Karl

November 6, 1939 - March 26, 2026

Karl Lubsch, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of humor, passion, and dedication.

Born to Fredrick and Marie Lubsch, Karl was a first-generation American with an appreciation for his German heritage. He was a devoted father to his five children – Jeffrey (Shari), Debbie, David (Sherri), Suzanne, and Lisa (Nick). He cherished his role as grandfather to Lucas, Olivia, Grant (Hannah), Alexander, Phoebe, and Bruno, and as great-grandfather to Remy.

Karl was known for his loud, witty personality and his ability to fill a room with energy and laughter. He had a deep love for basketball and shared that passion through coaching at Fontbonne, Lindbergh, and Mehlville, leaving a lasting impact on countless players.

He dedicated many years to a meaningful career as a pharmacist at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and the Missouri Poison Center, where he cared deeply about his work and the people he served.

Karl had a curious and playful spirit. He collected many things over the years – from t-shirts to brushes – but especially loved reading material, often leaving with an extra magazine or two. He enjoyed being in the sun, believed horses were truly majestic, and was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Blues.

In recognition of the joy his grandson Bruno brought to his life, those wishing to honor Karl’s memory may consider supporting the Gateway Down Syndrome Association. Donations can be made in his name here: https://gatewaydsa.org/donation/

Karl’s presence, humor, and passion for life will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.  Kutis Affton Chapel
