Dorothy Louise McCutchen (nee Meyer), of south St. Louis County, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Dorothy was born on July 18, 1940, to Edgar and Meta Meyer, and she was raised on the family farm near New Wells, Missouri. She carried throughout her life the values of faith, family, hard work, and caring for others that were rooted in her upbringing.
She graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1961, beginning a long and meaningful career in nursing. Dorothy served as a registered nurse and devoted her professional life to the care of others, working in both hospital and office settings.
In 1967, Dorothy married the love of her life, Donald McCutchen. Together, they welcomed three children, Brian, Vicki, and Pamela. Dorothy stepped away from full-time nursing to devote herself to raising them and volunteering at their church and her children’s schools.
After those years at home, Dorothy re-instated her RN certification and returned to the nursing profession, serving until retirement as a mental health nurse at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Meta Meyer, her brother, Norman Meyer, and sister-in-law, Carol Meyer.
She is survived by her beloved husband of many years, Donald McCutchen; her children, Brian (Sharon) McCutchen, Vicki (Shawn) Northrop, and Pamela (Mark) Rempe; her grandchildren, Noah McCutchen, Shelby (Adam) Northrop, Clinton Northrop, Cody Northrop, Eleana Rempe, and Ellison Rempe; her three great grandchildren; her sister, Carolyn Krejci (nee Meyer), and brother-in-law Robert Krejci; along with other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Dorothy will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, her life of service.
Visitation at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Rd. (63125), Thursday, April 23, 10:00 am until funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment at St. Trinity Cemetery.
