Thomas John (Tom) Wangler, 75, of the St. Louis area, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026—a day that beautifully marked his and his beloved wife Nancy’s 31st wedding anniversary.
Tom was born on September 29, 1950, to the late Raymond and Mary (née Grimm) Wangler. He was the devoted and cherished husband of Nancy (née Paul) Wangler.
A quintessential family man, Tom dedicated his life to creating lasting memories with his children. Over the years, he traveled around Missouri with his family, whether leading the way on camping and Boy Scout trips, coaching youth sports, chaperoning marching band events, or planning memorable visits to Branson and Meramec Caverns.
Tom possessed a lifelong passion for rhythm and performance as an avid drummer, and he found great joy in music, movies, and the quiet patience of fly fishing. He was also a dedicated, lifelong fan of St. Louis baseball—never missing a chance to cheer on his beloved Cardinals. To his family, he was a steady anchor, and to his grandchildren, he was their deeply adored “Choo-choo.”
His most renowned characteristic was his sense of humor and love of people. Tom saw the best in people and always gave them the benefit of the doubt. He brought joy and laughter to all he knew through his many stories and jokes and a genuine sense of caring.
Tom is survived by his wife, loving sons, Zachary (Natalia) Wangler and Daniel (Haley) Wangler; his cherished grandchildren, Bliss and Myles Wangler; and his dear siblings, Sue Wangler, Ellen (Bob) Staples, Liz (Dave) Prange, and Chris Ruiz. He was a beloved uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, godfather, and a treasured friend to many.
