In loving memory of Richard “Rich” V Kukuljan Sr, who departed this world peacefully on June 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 18, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, Richard was a beacon of strength, humor, and unconditional love throughout his 83 years of life.
Richard was the cherished son of the late Richard and Vada Kukuljan. He grew up in the vibrant city of St. Louis, where he cultivated a love for life and adventure that he carried with him throughout his days. He graduated from high school in 1960 and went on to earn his associate degree, a testament to his commitment to personal growth and learning.
Richard served his country with honor and dignity in the United States Navy. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried into his civilian life. Following his military service, Richard embarked on a career that saw him serve as a police officer, before taking on the open roads as a truck driver, a role he relished until his retirement.
In 1994, Richard married the love of his life, Anne Dolde, creating a beautiful tapestry of shared memories and experiences. Their 32-year marriage was a testament to love and partnership, filled with laughter, puzzles, card games, and a mutual passion for NASCAR. Together, they nurtured a family rooted in love and compassion.
Richard’s legacy is lovingly carried forward by his children: Richard Jr. Kukuljan, Steven Kukuljan, Christine McAlice, Maria (Michael) Branon, Shelly(Vince) Seymore-Delgado Andrew Velasco, and Betsy (Patrick) Dolde. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Star Robertson (Jonathan), Jacob Foster, Benjamin Foster (Kelsey), Landon Branon, Lauren Jenkins (Colin), Sarah Velasco, Emily Dolde, Zoey Velasco, and Peyton Velasco. His great-grandchildren, Blaire Robertson, Vivian Robertson, Madysen Bem, Sadie Bem, Asher Jenkins, Akira Luckers, Tatum Foster, and Lily Jones, brought him immense joy and were a source of great pride.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne, his parents, and his grandson, Jeremy Velasco. His cousin, Denny Kukuljan (Judy), and numerous other family members and friends, will forever hold his memory dear.
An avid golfer and devoted craftsman, Richard found joy in building model boats from scratch, a hobby that reflected his patience and meticulous nature. His humor and sarcasm were legendary, endearing him to all who had the fortune to know him. Richard was a man of immense generosity, always willing to lend a hand or offer the shirt off his back. His presence was a steadfast comfort, and his kindness knew no bounds.
Services; Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel Wednesday July 1st 11:00 am until service departure at 1:00pm. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Richard Kukuljan’s life was a testament to love, service, and laughter. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
