In Loving Memory

Love Donald Roy,

 

Born February 12, 1932 in Jenks, Oklahoma, slipped his mortal bonds on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 in St Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Rankin (nee Rudrow) Love and Roy Lee Love, and his sister Norma Lee (Love) Payton.  Survivors include his devoted wife of 68 years, Margaret Joan (Carlin) Love, his children, Gerry Owen Love and Donald Stephen Love, and his grandchildren, Christopher Stephen Love and Alexander Scott Love, and his brother Leonard Wayne Love, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donald enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1951, married Margaret Joan Carlin, moved to California for basic training and subsequently served as a radarman aboard the USS Helena during the Korean Conflict achieving the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. After completing his Navy service, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.  His career proceeded with Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he designed high voltage electrical distribution systems among other duties. He retired from OG&E in 1987. Donald was a member and Past President of the Oklahoma City chapter of Kiwanis International. His favorite pastimes included fishing, watching sports (particularly Oklahoma State University and the St Louis Cardinals), working on his cars and boat, his family’s genealogy, and playing card and domino games. He loved spending time with his relatives and friends, listening to a variety of music, and travelling. He and his wife, Joan, were lifelong companions and moved to the St Louis, Mo area in 2009

Services: Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Monday July 22, 2019 10 a.m. Interment Sunset Cemetery. Visitation Sunday July 21, 2019 4 – 7 p.m.
