Bell, Elbert Clarence 


Passed away peacefully, January 10, 2023.

Beloved husband of Julia Bell (nee Howell) of 69 years. Dear father of Charles (Diane) Bell, Linda (Ernest) Downs, Andrew (Kimberly) Bell, and Angela McManus. With 12 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren, and predeceased by other precious little ones, he is survived by his sister, Ruth (Jerry) Smith.

Elbert was born in 1930 near Farmington, Missouri, of parents Clarence and Sarah Lillian Bell (nee Bloom). He met and married Julia Howell of London, England in 1953 while serving in the Air Force. They became long-time residents of Webster Groves and dedicated members of Webster Groves Baptist Church.

As a twelve year old entrepreneur, Elbert started a bicycle repair shop. His careers lead him to data processing and as a computer programmer for a major insurance company. Elbert especially enjoyed his many grand-children and great-grandchildren, travel, camping across the country, completing numerous construction and ongoing gardening projects.

Services: Visitation at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd, St. Louis, MO 63123 Friday, January 13 from 4-8 PM with funeral service at 7 PM. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Webster Groves Baptist Church, 308 Summit Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63119.
