Dianne-Baker

In Loving Memory

Baker, Dianne Lynn

January 9, 1947-November 27, 2021

Dianne Lynn Baker (nee Onder), passed away on November 27, 2021. She was 74. She was married to her husband, Harold, for nearly 54 years. Deeply loved by her four children, Kathy (Chris) Taylor, Bobby Baker, Jimmy Baker, and Sheri (Derrick) Whitmire. Absolutely adored by her three grandchildren, Kaitlin Taylor, Kyle Taylor, and Coby Taylor; dear daughter of the late William, Sr. and Lorayne Onder; dear sister of Bill (Barbara) Onder, Jr., Bonnie Onder Shulman and the late Daniel Onder.

She graduated from Notre Dame High School. Some of the places she worked over the years included Black River Lodge, the telephone company, and Sappington Garden Shop, but the job she did better than anyone else was being the most amazing mom and grandma. Dianne loved her kids, grandkids, and many fortunate pets she treated like family throughout the years. Squirrels and birds would come right up to her to get peanuts and bird food so she always had a supply ready for them. Animals and humans alike, she was a friend to all she met. From ornate bows and gift wrap to elaborate cakes, flower arrangements, and skillfully painted pumpkins, Dianne could brighten up everything. She loved listening to country music and tending to her garden filled with gorgeous flowers. She was a beautiful, gentle, generous lady who put everyone before herself. She showed everyone how much she appreciated them and spent endless hours searching for small gifts, cards, or baking something special to give them. The world was a better place with her in it and she will truly be missed.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 from 3-8pm at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., 63123. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:30am also at Kutis Affton Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, 6901 MacKenzie Rd., St. Louis, MO 63123.

  5. Aunt Dianne’s wit and genuineness made her so enjoyable to be around. It was obvious she loved deeply and cared so much about her family. Our hearts break for you, Uncle Harold, Kathy, Bob, Jim, Sheri, and family. The last time I spoke to her, she was sharing how much she adored her grandkids. May her love bring you comfort in the tough days ahead.
Much love, Julie, Glen, and girls

  13. I would also like to pass on my condolences to Dianne’s family for their terrible loss. She was such a sweet and caring woman. I was lucky enough to reconnect with her on our 50th grade school reunion. From our conversations these last 11 years I discovered a person who loved her children and grandchildren with a passion that would be hard to be surpassed. Selfishly I regret that I will not have another chance to communicate with such a lovely person. She will be missed!

  15. Will always remember our summers at the Black River Lodge. When we were younger we each had a special dance for the guests each week and a few years later she and I were known as the water girls in our pink uniforms. Beautiful memories that I will cherish the rest of my life. My deepest sympathy to Harold and her family. Joyous reunion with your parents and Danny. RIP my sweet Dianne. Until we meet again!

  19. Growing up in Holy Family parish we knew the entire Onder family. Dianne was always a friendly, loving, caring person who was fun to be with. I don’t get to St. Louis much anymore so it has been a few years since our last lunch. I extend my sympathy to her family as well as to Bill and Bonnie. I will remember Dianne and you all in my prayers during this sorrowful time. Assuming as I do that the best is yet to come, Heaven should be brighter and happier with Dianne inside the pearly gates.
