Barber

In Loving Memory

Barber, Benjamin P.

February 12, 1985 - August 28, 2024

Ben Barber, 39, passed away on Wednesday, August 28. He is survived by his parents Loy & Jane, his sister Sam and his dog Ember.

Ben was a proud, lifelong resident of South St. Louis City. He attended grade school at St. Stephen Protomartyr (Class of 1999), CBC High School (Class of 2003) and The Broadcast Center. After a brief stint in the radio business, he started a lawn care service but eventually he found his true calling as a carpenter.

Ben was an Eagle Scout and loved the outdoors. You could often find him fishing in Carondelet Park. He was a member of the Lemay Corkball Club. He had a passion for music. He loved going to concerts with his Dad and listening to his vinyl collection. Ben spent countless hours with his friends watching St. Louis sports.

Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Mercy South ICU who did everything they could to save his life. Ben’s memory will live on, as his viable tissues, nerves, heart valve and corneas are being donated to Mid-America Transplant. His heroic gift will help up to 70 adults and children.

Memorial visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123, on Tuesday, September 3 from 4-8pm with a Memorial Service at 7:00pm.

  1. Ben,
We had a good time skating, going to shows, and scouting camps. We lost touch over the years I moved away, I’m sorry and you and your family are in my prayers. Loy, Jane, and Sam, I’m so sorry.

  2. Jane, Loy and Sammie. Dave and I send our prayers and deepest sympathy to you as you navigate through this difficult time. Losing a child is every parent’s worse nightmare and leaves a hole in your heart that will never repair. Find comfort in knowing that Ben is no longer in pain and is reunited with his Grandparents who loved him deeply. Each of you now have a special Angel watching over you until you meet again.

  3. Ben was such a great guy with an infectious smile . I didn’t get to see him as much lately as I did when he was playing corkball with our league, but regardless when I did it was always good times and no matter what season the conversation always took a direct turn to our beloved cardinals. I’ll miss him greatly as will all of your brothers of Lemay Corkball Club. Deepest sympathy to the families on the loss of a great friend.
