Thomas (Tom) Patrick Craddock, MAI, SRA died peacefully on Wednesday June 9, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was loved by family and friends, is missed and will forever be cherished. Tom was an enthusiastic conversationalist who never met a stranger and enjoyed telling the EPIC story. He was happiest surrounded by family, spending time on his boat and driving his Mercedes convertible. He never missed attending or throwing a great party.

He was a devoted grandfather, never missing his grandchildren’s sporting events, and always being a spectacular fan. He loved his wife, Judy. They met when they were 15 and 17 years-old respectively. Together they raised a family, had many travel adventures.
Tom’s career, an integral part of his life, began in 1961 in the St Louis County Assessor’s office. He graduated from Washington University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in May of 1976. Throughout his life, Tom was dedicated to educating and mentoring other appraisers. He taught courses for the Appraisal Institute, the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, the Institute of Financial Education, Residential Appraising and the Metropolitan College of St Louis University.
True to his entrepreneurial spirit, Tom started his own appraisal firm in 1988 and throughout his distinguished career was continuously engaged in professional development. He was the President of the St Louis Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and held the offices of vice president, secretary, treasurer and board member. He was a founding member of the Real Estate Appraisal Section of the National Association of Realtors. He served on the St Louis County Board of Equalization since its inception. He was a member of the three-panel board for the past nine years. Tom also served as an advisor to the Shrewsbury Planning Commission. He continued working until Spring of 2021 and wasn’t ready to stop.
He will be remembered for his jokes, wildly entertaining stories, generous smile, joyful approach to life, unfailing work ethic and dedication to and love for his family. Tom will be missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
