In Loving Memory

Dohack, Diane M.

May 31, 1930 - March 30, 2026

Diane Mary (Gansmann) Dohack, born on May 31, 1930, surrounded by family and in the arms of her husband, having received the sacraments of the Catholic Church, peacefully entered eternal life on March 30, 2026.

Beloved wife of Richard Arthur Dohack; dear daughter of the late Sylvester and Evelyn (Wyrsch) Gansmann; loving mother of Richard Dohack Jr. (spouse Pat Orman), Mary Dohack-Meyer (spouse Phil Meyer), Michael Dohack (spouse Kathy Biffignani-Dohack), David Dohack (spouse Ann Wesbecher-Dohack), Timothy Dohack (spouse Heather Raby-Dohack), Stephen Dohack (spouse Chinda Chomburi-Dohack), Carol Dohack-Templeton (spouse Tom Templeton), Joann Dohack-Feldhaus (spouse Lou Feldhaus), Diane Dohack-Richter (spouse John Richter), and Christopher Dohack; dear grandmother of 29 and great-grandmother of 40.

Preceded in death by her son, Robert Dohack and her infant children, Dickie, Joseph, John, and Mary I (Mary I was born while Dick was serving in the Air Force in Korea and lived just 4 months.)

Her father, Sylvester (Syl) Gansmann, and mother, Evelyn (Wyrsch) Gansmann provided a humble but loving home that shaped the woman she became – deeply faithful, humble, selfless, generous, loving, and compassionate. Too poor to contract a builder, Syl and Diane personally built a comfortable home with their own hands. Her Dad was her inspiration to become the woman who loved everyone she met and who was loved by them in return.

Diane met the love of her life, Richard Arthur (Dick) Dohack, in the sixth grade at St. Francis of Assisi Parish School. Their admiration for each other was instant and over the years grew into a deep and never-failing love that was apparent to everyone. They were united in marriage on September 8, 1951. Following the passing of their first four children (mentioned above), through deep faith and perseverance, Diane went on to be a devoted mother to eleven more. She was the proud grandmother of 29 and the cherished great-grandmother of 40. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured herself into each generation with tenderness, patience, great love, and constant prayer.

Diane had a gentle and loving spirit. She loved everyone she met and was loved in return. She saw beauty in all of God’s creation—flowers in bloom, a well-tended garden, animals, and most of all, people. A talented artist, she shared her creative gifts generously, blessing many with her work.

She loved God deeply, and her faith was the cornerstone of her life. It guided her through both joy and sorrow and was evident in her kindness, humility, and steadfast love. Diane lived her beliefs not only in words, but through her actions—caring for others, forgiving freely, and remaining positive and hopeful in all things.

Diane’s virtues are carried on with her spirit by everyone in her family and friends. Their mutual love and service to others are a testament to her accomplishments in life.

Visitation will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 9740 Sappington Road, Sunset Hills, Missouri 63128 beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026. In lieu of flowers donations to Cardinal Glennon Childrens Hospital appreciated.

“Well done, good and faithful servant,” – Matthew 25:23

  14. My heart aches for the Dohack family. The four and a half years I worked at Dohack’s are the most cherished memories of my life! Mr. and Mrs. Dohack are the most amazing people I ever had the pleasure to meet. I am incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to be a member of their extended family. Mrs. Dohack was one of the most kind and sweetest people I have ever met. The world is definitely dimmer without her in it. May she rest in peace. My sincerest condolences are with all of you. May she rest in peace.
