July 22, 1951 - September 19, 2025

Teresa Emily Oehl, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19th at her home in St. Louis.

She was born in St. Louis in 1951 to Henry and Ethel Kertz of Bloomsdale and was preceded in death by both her parents. She is survived by brothers Richard (Donna) Kertz and Steve Kertz, sister Ann (John) Siener, her husband of 49 years William Oehl, daughter Angela (Brian) Oravetz, son Brian (April) Oehl, 5 grandchildren: Avery Oravetz, Trevor Oravetz, Madison Hockaday, Lyra Oehl, and Janus Oehl, and one great-grandchild, Violet Hockaday.

Teresa was an active member of the St. Matthias congregation, having served as President of the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary and was an active volunteer with many other parish organizations. She worked for the IRS for a decade and retired from the Veterans Canteen Service after 20 years as an accounting technician. She held many other jobs as well, working tirelessly to support her family. She was an avid baker and was well-known for her delicious cookies which were a staple at holidays and frequently donated for bake-sales. She loved other crafts as well, including quilting. She was a gifted seamstress and an expert in cross-stitch, and made hundreds of hand-made Christmas ornaments for friends and family over the years. She spent every moment she could bringing joy to others with the works of her hands.

Services:  Visitation at St. Matthias Catholic Church 796 Buckley Road St. Louis, MO 63125, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, 11am until funeral Mass 12pm.  Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Kutis South County Chapel.

  1. Im so sorry for your loss. I worked with Teresa at the VCS and have several crafty items she made for me. What a nice person and so talented. Up until about 2 yrs ago., we exchanged birthday and Christmas cards. She’ll be missed but is now at rest with her Lord.

  2. Keeping your family in my thoughts. Your mom was very kind and I am so thankful for her. She did such wonderful work with helping with our wedding. She will be very much missed.
