Osia

In Loving Memory

Osia, Michael Carl

Michael Carl Osia, 60, of Arnold, Missouri, died April 15,2022 at 2:32am at Mercy Hospital South St. Louis.

Mike was a pillar in his community. He took over the family business when his father passed away in 1988 and has run Carl’s Service Station in the Tower Grove South Neighborhood of St. Louis City until his passing. His hard work and honest assessments made his family business vital to the community and earned it a strong reputation. He enjoyed working on his cars, hunting and making salsa from his garden. However, above everything, he cherished spending time with his daughter and grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Osia, sister, Karleen Osia and baby brother Robert.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Osia, his daughter, Jennifer Martin, and grandchildren, Nikolai, Isaiah, and Arianah; his brothers Bill Osia (Barb), Kenny Osia, and Mark Osia (Pat), and his sisters Beverly Osia, Mary Osia, Rayna Osia, and Shelley Coffman (Ron), as well as his girlfriend, Amanda, and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

His visitation will be held at Kutis Funeral Home 2906 Gravois Ave. St. Louis, in on Sunday, April 24, from 3 to 8 pm.

A private mass will be held at Immaculate Conception church in Arnold on Monday April 25 at 10 am.

We will always carry Mike’s memory in our hearts.

Memorials to cancer research appreciated.

  3. Mike meant more to me that I could ever describe! I enjoyed stopping by the gas station and chatting with him! We were both good friends with Bill Wilson! The Osia family meant so much to Holy Family neighborhood! They let my dad work for them in the 60’s so we could have food on our table! They gave credit to people so they could have a running car! Mike you will be missed by many! Keep me in your thoughts and help me continue to do Gods work! The Redel send thoughts and prayers to all who ever crossed his path!

  7. I live in Tower Grove South and walk my dog past Carl’s almost daily. My dog is a rescue and his original name was Carl, so Mike and I joked about that. He greeted us with a calm smile and gave us dog treats. My dog loved to see him because he knew he’d get a milk bone and some loving ear scratches. I didn’t know him, only in minutes at a time, but I could tell he was a kind soul. I’m sorry to hear this news.

  11. Mike worked on our cars for years and from day 1 made us feel like he’d know us for a long time. He was clearly a good man.
While his family feels his loss the most, obviously . I hope they know many in the area are deeply saddened by his passing. The neighborhood has lost a gem.

  23. Words are failing me. I got to know Mike through my dad, Jim. My dad worked for Mike for many years – even past retirement, my dad couldn’t stand sitting still. Mike was always so friendly, open and had the biggest smile on his face. I’d stop by the shop and listen to them along with another mechanic, Bart, banter back & forth with each trying to “out story” the other. Such laughter and happy times!! We’ve continued to stay in touch even 19yrs after my dad’s passing…and he’s always seen to it that my mom never had any issues with her car, treating her like family. Mike is one of a kind! He was a fair & honest man and treated others like he himself would like to be treated. The world had lost another special person. I’m so sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to each and everyone in the Osia family.

  33. So hard to find a good, trusted, and honest mechanic like Mike Osia. He was always there — dependable for quality car repairs, or to just lend a sympathetic ear. I remember he comforted me one day when I came in for a car repair after my mom had passed away. He could relate to my taking care of a dying family member at home, as he cared for his sister at home, when she was dying of cancer. I will never forget his kindness and caring.

Mike was one of a kind and will truly be missed — a good and faithful servant of Christ.

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”

I had the privilege of knowing Mike for several years, and entrusting him with my car for service–he was always so kind, caring, and thoughtful–going out of his way to make me, and all of his customers and community members, feel well cared for and respected. Tower Grove was so much enriched by his presence. Sending deepest condolences to Mike’s family and loved ones.

It’s hard to find a person in Life whose opinion can be trusted, much less in business dealings. I’m going to light a candle to Mike every time we camp in that old van. I hope he’s having fun with Jerry up there! He sure will be missed in Tower Grove.
