In Loving Memory

Sanders, Dennis Gene

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, Dennis G. Sanders passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was the dear father of Victoria (Kevin) Rogers and Kimberly (Tyler Edgerton) Sanders, grandfather of Rylee Nikolaisen, son of Shirley and the late Gene Sanders, brother of Debra (Randy) Spaethe and the late David (Helene Pappas) Sanders. Beloved uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend.

Dennis loved classic cars, Blues hockey, and road trips. He was a small business owner who continued his father’s legacy, keeping the family business open for 37 years. He was known to be a fierce advocate for anyone he called a friend and found joy in helping others. His three greatest joys were his two daughters and his granddaughter, and was outspoken about how proud he was of each of them. Dennis is at peace, but will be greatly missed by many.

SERVICES:  Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Road on Thursday, February 23, 4 – 8 p.m. with funeral service Friday, February 24, 11:00 a.m.  Service will conclude at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to MS Society or to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital appreciated.

  1. Kim and Vicki-
I am so sorry to learn of your father’s passing. He was such an important part of my teenage years, as a youth group leader for so many of us at Southminster. He was kind, generous and a thoughtful man, who I always appreciated seeing at his station when I came back to STL as an adult. He will be missed. All my best to you both and your families.

  3. What a tremendous loss to our world. Dennis was a kind, hard-working, strong fighter, and a wonderful, caring man who loved his family more than anything in the world. I feel fortunate to have known him during my teen years and have him be a role model in my life. Sending prayers and love Vickie, Kim, and the rest of his family. May you always feel his love in your hearts.

  5. Dennis hated disco! And I loved teasing him by humming “Do the Hustle”. I would leave hum that on voice mail. We shared laughs about that. He was such a good sport and such an honest and honorable businessman. We were all in good hands with Dennis Sanders.
    My sympathy to you all.

  7. Denny is one of the few friends who always called me Jackie. We met when I moved to Crestwood to start first grade. We became good friends, playing wiffle ball in the street and hunting in the woods with our BB guns. We drifted apart in high school, joining groups with different interests. As years passed he always made an effort to maintain. contact. I made it a point to gas up at the station when I was in country from Saudi Arabia. When my mother was admitted to the nursing home, he was the first one to send flowers. My sister, Melanie, preserved the flowers and they exist to this day as a centerpiece on a table at our Lakehouse. Denny thought enough of our friendship to ask me to check on his daughter when a flood hit Boulder, CO some years ago. I spoke with him after my move to Columbia, MO. We talked of getting together and taking one of the deer that frequented his backyard. Our plan was for him to use a crossbow. I would dress the animal, then we would grill a backstrap and have a beer. I regret that we didn’t find the opportunity to execute the plan before
I returned to Colorado. Farewell my friend, we will hunt together again when I meet you on the other side.
