Hui Son Choi Smith, age 72, of House Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025.
She was born on August 7, 1953, in Gangwon Province, South Korea. While living in Seoul, Hui Son met her future husband, Michael Smith, who was stationed there with the United States Army. She later emigrated to the United States, where the two were married and had three daughters.
Hui Son was a lifelong Christian whose faith guided every aspect of her life. Throughout her years, she was deeply involved in her local Korean communities, building strong relationships and offering support, hospitality and connection to those around her. In the later years of her life, she dedicated herself to service through her work with the National Association of Inter-Cultural Family Mission (NAICFM). Whether assisting with accounting duties, overseeing construction projects at Peace Village, cooking for others or offering a helping hand whenever it was needed, she served with humility and generosity.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Smith; her daughters Kimberly Maserang (Jeffrey), Janet Vega, and Sarah Smith; and her grandchildren Landon, Jonah, Deus, and Arkadin.
Visitation will be held at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Road, Saint Louis, MO 63123 on Monday, December 22 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
