January 25, 1953 – September 26, 2025

Leo R. Steger, Jr., age 72, of Byrnes Mill, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on September 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a true fighter, having faced the challenges of ALS with remarkable strength and grace. Despite the disease taking away his ability to walk, talk, and breathe, Leo’s unwavering faith and love for his family carried him through to the end.

Leo was the beloved husband of Linda (née Lagermann) for over 51 years. He was a proud father to Michael (Carolyn) Steger and Karen (Bill) McMahan, and a cherished Papa to Emilee and Alyson McMahan, Step-grandpa to Kathy (Thomas) Pittman, and John Nagy. Step-great grandpa to Anthony and Lucas Willmann and Layla Hodgkins. Leo was also a devoted brother to Janice (late Paul) Bowker of California, Brother-in-Law, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Leo served from 1972 to 1975 and remained in the reserves for an additional 10 years. After retiring as a Mechanical Engineer, Leo enjoyed playing golf and had a special fondness for cheering on the Cardinals.

Leo’s life was defined by his kindness, humor, and deep commitment to his family. He will be dearly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
