Being Mary’s friend and neighbor growing up, my childhood is filled with heartwarming memories of Bill. He was such a kind and generous soul.
When I was in middle school and Mary was still in elementary school, I would occasionally miss the school bus. Since both of my parents had already left for work, Bill was always there to save the day. All I had to do was knock on his door, and he’d fire up the minivan, turn on some amazing tunes, and drive me to school. I loved rocking out with him on those rides—they’re memories I’ll always cherish.
Bill’s generous heart embraced not only his children but also their friends. His kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on me.
One of my favorite memories of Bill was when he helped Mary and I get ready for a special girl scout event. It was a patriotic event and he painted our nails with American flags on them and helped us with our routine. It felt very special.
Bill was a very thoughtful and kind peron. Bob and I only knew him a short time when Ali and Mike were engaged. He had come to our house for one of the holidays and he saw that I had this red and gold vase in my curio cabinet. Later I received a letter and two vases he had that belonged to his mom. He gave them to me with the note that said that they were just collecting dust in the basement for a long time. He thought I’d like to have a trio of matching vases. So unexpected. What a sweetheart of a man! May God keep him in His loving hands.
Bill was a good man. He was our neighbor and his daughter Mary has been part of our family since she was in grade school. Russ and I send our love and deepest sympathies to Mary & Mike.
