In Loving Memory

Rieser Jr, Samuel Andrew (Andy)

Samuel Andrew (Andy) Rieser Jr, age 48, left this world on June 7th, 2024, with his wife and friends by his side.

Born on June 11th, 1975, to Samuel Andrew Rieser Sr. and Debra Kay Miller, Sam’s journey began amidst the rugged beauty of the mountains in Mountain Home, Idaho, though he later relocated to St. Louis, Mo in 1987. Sam’s early years were graced by the joys of fatherhood, as he welcomed his first daughter Samantha in 1991 and second daughter Brandi in 1993.

Sam’s path was one of relentless pursuit and dedication, beginning his culinary career at Jack in the Box and ascending to pivotal roles in esteemed establishments like The Adam’s Mark Hotel, The Cheesecake Factory, Ronnie’s Theatre, and the Federal Reserve Bank. His ability to memorize over 200 recipes at one time while continuously innovating menus was a testament to his exceptional talent and tireless work ethic. He was recognized with prestigious titles such as Executive Kitchen Manager and Executive Banquet Chef. Sam’s dedication was further celebrated with numerous awards, including a Regional Financial Award, multiple Restaurant of the Year accolades and financial achievements such as Most Improved Fiscal Year and Substantial Increase in Catering Sales. In fact, during his final days, the Federal Reserve Bank was preparing an article to highlight his culinary talent.

In 2011, Sam’s life took a beautimus turn when he crossed paths with Crystal Charlene McFarland. Their love blossomed and they eloped in 2020, later solidifying their commitment with a formal wedding in 2022. Sam embraced his role as stepfather to Mitchell and Gavin McFarland from day one, nurturing them with the same love and care he showered upon his own daughters.

A true self-made man, Sam’s talents extended beyond the kitchen. He was a master of various trades, such as carpentry and mechanics. He helped his father build his home in 1998, then bought and remodeled his first house in 2000. Sam and Gavin even rebuilt a Ford Mustang, inside and out. Sam eagerly shared his knowledge with others, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from him.

Sam & Crystal created a successful food vending business in 2014, Rieser’s Loose Meat. Soon after, various family members joined and together they delighted patrons at local events such as OctoberFest, Irish River Festival, the Jefferson County Fair, and Rodeos. Even after transitioning to a different industry in 2022, fans continued to seek out his culinary creations, which gave him great joy knowing the impact he had on the community.

Transitioning to real estate endeavors in 2022, Sam and Crystal’s determination and teamwork persevered with the successful flipping of their first investment property. Their shared dreams and endeavors solidified their bond, enriching both their personal and professional lives.

The Rieser’s final family vacation with Sam was just this April, journeying back to Sam’s roots in Idaho, revisiting childhood memories and reconnecting with family. It gives his family great peace knowing they were able to relive that with him.

Whether he was camping, floating down the river, orchestrating events or pouring his heart into every dish he created, Sam lived life with an intensity that few could match. Sam went “ALL THE WAY” in all aspects in life.

Reunited with his mother, Debby Shook, Sam leaves behind his father Samuel, stepfather Bob, sister Kimberly, and stepsiblings Patti, Kevin, Danna, and David. He is survived by his devoted wife Crystal, daughters Samantha (Brian) and Brandi (Levi), and sons Mitchell and Gavin. Sam’s legacy extends to his cherished grandchildren, Isaac (13,) Ava (11,) Steven (9,) Baylee (3,) and June (1.)

Though his time on earth was cut short and Sam will be deeply missed, he will forever be remembered for his indomitable spirit.

Services: A celebration of Sam’s life will be held at 2pm on June 23rd, 2024 at 215 Cave Dr. Festus, MO 63028, where family and friends will gather to enjoy Rieser’s Loose Meat one last time and honor a great man taken too soon.

  1. Sam you will be deeply missed. I will always remember our conversations about properties, business, life and food. I will miss laughing and joking with you and talking about family. I remember picking you up for work and laughing the whole time to work. I could go on. Thank you for your investment in me.

    Prayers to the family.

    Much Love

  2. Sam was a very hard worker and he took pride in his work. His last big function at the Federal Reserve Bank was a success because of his food presentation for The Leadership Conference. We loved teasing with Sam. Kandice kept him on his toes, especially when it came to making desserts. Mr. Tom was his right hand man. He became part of the family. We even had the pleasure of meeting his dear wife, Crystal and handsome grandson. My heart really goes out to them along with the rest of the family. A real shock to all of us that he’s no longer here , but he will be remembered. My sincere condolences to you all.
