O’Rourke; her siblings: Glen (Olive) O’Rourke, Marie (Jack) McLaughlin, Robert (Pat) O’Rourke, Francis (Rae) O’Rourke; and her grandson, Christopher Beck.
She was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on February 23, 1929 and lived in Saint Louis her entire life. While she was often soft-spoken, she was also whipsmart – if you weren’t listening closely, you would miss some great lines and jokes! She cared deeply about everyone in her life; she always remembered every detail, big or small, and made sure to ask about them the next time you saw her.
A devoted Catholic her entire life, Marg never missed attending mass in-person until the pandemic, and then she found a way to watch or listen to mass and had communion delivered to her. Her faith was her rock and the community she found at her church was an important part of her life. She was a dedicated nurse for many years at Robert Koch Hospital and St. Louis City Hospital, and she brought the same care and comfort she gave her patients to everyone she met. She always provided a calm and comforting presence.
As a true Saint Louisian, she was an avid fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals, and a childhood member of “The Knothole Gang”. She rarely missed a game, and was excited about the energetic and fun start to the 2026 season. While she had a great appreciation for many players and witnessed several incredible moments throughout Cardinals history, her favorite player remained Stan “The Man” Musial. Whether the Cardinals were winning or losing, they never lost a fan in Marg!
Marg was never happier than with family. She was married to her dear husband, Bob, for 59 years. Whether playing cards with friends, spending a weekend at Rend Lake, or hosting a family gathering, Marg and Bob spent their marriage together making memories and enjoying a rich life. Their family will always have fond memories of summer pool parties, holiday celebrations, and other family get-togethers at their home in Crestwood. Marg would spend her time at family events chatting with each person one-on-one, holding and playing with babies (she was never happier than with a baby in her arms!), and watching several generations of her family come together with a smile on her face. A true matriarch and the closest thing to a saint most of us will ever know, Marg will be missed by so many people, but the legacy of love and family she built will continue for generations.
