Kathleen Bartman

In Loving Memory

Bartman, Kathleen A. (nee Harmon)

November 11, 1943 - October 24, 2024

Passed away on Thursday, October 24th, 2024.

Beloved wife of Richard Bartman; devoted mother of Francine (Louis) Vandeloecht, Amy (David) Cunningham, and Rick Bartman; adoring grandmother of Sophia, Isabella, and Miriam Vandeloecht, Grace (Victor) Flores, and Nicholas and Madilyn Cunningham; cherished great grandmother of Marlowe and Mazie Flores; dearest daughter of the late Francis and Helen (nee Rohrich) Harmon; loving sister of Gerald (the late Annie) Harmon; our dear aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Kathy was born on November 11, 1943 to Francis and Helen (Rohrich) Harmon in St Louis, Missouri.  She grew up in the South City area and could often be found trailing after her adoring brother, Gerry.  At the age of 7, her father was killed in the Korean Conflict.  After this, she and her brother were embraced by her mother’s extended family and raised with much loved cousins who still refer to her as ‘Sis’.

After graduating from St John’s High School in 1961, she worked at Trans World Airlines (TWA) as a reservationist.  In 1967, her brother set her up with a co-worker, Richard S. Bartman.  He asked her to marry him on their second date and they were wed on November 8, 1969.  Over the next ten years, they welcomed three children: Francine, Amy and Richard (Rick), whom Kathy often referred to as the ‘jewels in her crown’.

Kathy was multi-talented as evidenced by an eclectic career that spanned everything from benefits coordinator at ADP to manager / bartender at Two Hearts Banquet Center to telecommunication tech support at Maritz.  Her favorite title, however, was “Grandma”.  She doted on her six grandchildren – treating them to “secret” ice cream runs and breakfasts at I-Hop.

Kathy was known for her kindness and generosity.  She never met a stranger and forged many lifelong friendships.  She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made to the American Diabetes Association are greatly appreciated.

SERVICES: Funeral at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL (10151 Gravois Rd., 63123) on Wednesday, October 30th at 1:00 PM. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.

  6. While I did not personally know Kathy, I do know her daughter, Amy Cunningham (and David). The Cunningham’s are one of the most caring, generous, and warm people around, and I’m sure Kathy is looking down from Heaven, always watching over them, and especially proud to be their mother (and in-law). My deepest sympathies to the family. Sending you hope and strength during these hard times.
