Bonnie Louise Mulligan, age 79, longtime resident of Sunset Hills, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 6, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Bonnie was the beloved mother of Michael (Maureen) of Bradenton, Florida; Mark (Erica) of Chesterfield, Missouri; and Matthew of Madison, Wisconsin. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Brady, Callie, Mallory, Liam, and Riley. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria; her brother, Ed; and a large extended family of relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Myles; her parents, Otto and Virginia Knittig; and her sister, Cathy Knittig, all of St. Louis.
Bonnie had a gift for making people feel welcome. She treasured friendships and family above all else, forming lifelong bonds wherever life took her. She maintained cherished friendships from Assumption of Mattese Grade School for more than 74 years and from Notre Dame High School for more than 61 years. Bonnie loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.
Shortly after graduating from Notre Dame High School, Bonnie met the love of her life, Myles. Together they built a marriage defined by love, loyalty, faith, and joy. They loved traveling and spending time with friends and family, but they were perhaps best known for filling every dance floor they stepped onto — always among the first to arrive and the last to leave. Their home was equally known as a welcoming gathering place where friends and family naturally came together. Bonnie and Myles truly brought out the very best in one another.
Bonnie was the heart of her home — managing a busy household while helping Myles operate the family catering business. Whether handling finances, serving guests, washing dishes, or keeping three active boys in line, she did whatever was needed with strength, grace, and a smile. She was immensely proud of her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Faith and family were the foundations of Bonnie’s life. She was deeply committed to the education and upbringing of her boys and led her family by example, most notably leading the way to the first pew at Sunday Mass each week.
Bonnie was also a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, proudly wearing red and rarely miss following a game. She was an active parishioner and volunteer at both St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church.
Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and unwavering love touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
