was born April 11, 1964 in Caracas, Venezuela. He, sadly, passed at the age of 57 on September 10, 2021 in St. Louis, Missouri,
while surrounded by his two daughters. Jorge graduated from high school at the age of 17 and moved from Caracas to St. Louis to attend Webster University. He graduated with a bachelors degree in computer programming and went on to work in this field for both McDonnell Douglas and Elsevier, until 2011 when he transitioned to a new career as a correctional officer for the city of Jennings. During the ten years he worked at the prison, Jorge became much loved by prisoners and staff alike. Jorge loved his church, and lived and taught the gospel by setting an example of love and service to others. He was the most kind, humble, and generous man, who had the unique ability to find the good in everyone he met. He cherished his family, both immediate and extended, finding the greatest joy in spending time with his daughters.
Jorge is survived by his parents, José María Pereira and Adélia Otília Resende Marques; his brothers, José Pereira and Armando Pereira; his daughters, Maia (Adam) Gilliam and Alexis Pereira; and his granddaughter-to-be, Adeline Gilliam. Jorge is greatly loved and will be missed by many, especially his daughters, who will keep his memory alive by continuing to serve others. Services: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Frontenac, Missouri. Visitation is Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following. Jorge will be laid to rest at Brown Cemetery in St. Mary’s, Missouri.
I met Jorge while he was attending Webster and we became fast friends. He spoke Portuguese, Spanish and English. He was a very smart guy, very humble and I consider him a dear friend.
As years go by you lose touch with people. I didn’t hear if his passing and felt bad not knowing. To his family, I express my love and deepest condolences. Jorge will be missed greatly. Godspeed Jorge and we will see you again. Thank you for your friendship and your Christ-like example and attributes!!
