  1. I was saddened to learn of Georgs’ passing. He is a respected Detective Sergeant with the SLMPD, now retired. He is also a Marine, a distinguished Gunnery Sergeant {E-7}. “Once a Marine, always a Marine”

Marines die, that’s what we’re here for; but the Marine Corps lives forever. That means Gunny Seper will live forever, and that makes me smile. Semper-Fi Gunny. You fought like a true Devil Dog. Rest easy now, we got it from here. Ohh – Raa ! ! !

  2. George, was like a father to ne! I knew him for the 4 years I worked at Bethesda Terrace. We talked about how much he loved Dorothy, his service as a Marine and time in law enforement. It was amazing how he remembered people he knew or arrested over 60 years ago. George, always talked about how much he loved his family. I was honored to know his daughters Judy and Janet. One of the things I will remember George, for are the calls i received at the desk at 2am. I would get to his apartment only to get him peaches, tomatoes, or chips with either a beer or a cola. I will miss seeing him, and hearing him call me his Rabbi. I am Jewish!

  3. What a wonderful second father to me I will honor him forever and remember all the fun times Dad and George had smoking cigars and telling jokes and George driving Dad crazy about talking about the marines.Thank you to George and Dorothy for all love and kindness they gave me. Janet and Judy you feel proud to have a father like him even though he was a marine. (Just kidding Geo)
    Have fun with everyone.

  4. I am so sorry for the loss of the best storyteller I have ever met. George was a one of a kind guy who I am so grateful I got to meet and hear so many stories from throughout his life. He was my favorite person to see and talk to every morning when I served him his hot cup of coffee at Bethesda. So so blessed to have known him and be called his “adopted granddaughter”. Sending so much love and prayers to your amazing family❤️

  5. I have known few lives that have been lived larger than George J. Seper’s. George grew up in old St. Benard’s parish with my mother Mary Ann (Einspanier) Craven and his wonderful future wife Dorothy. I came to know George quite well in his last few years as he regaled me with many stories of his time in Korea as a Marine amphibious tank gunner, his time as a city homicide detective, and as a loving husband and father. When my son Steven graduated from the police academy, George gave him a pair of his old hand cuffs, which Steven still uses. So, in a way, George is still on the job. Thanks for the all the stories and jokes my good friend. May you rest in peace.

  6. I was so saddened to hear of the passing of George, he is in my thoughts and prayers along with all of his family. Will remember all the times he went speeding down the halls at Terrace to go out front to smoke a cigar.
