Dave-Amelotti-Our-Lady-of-Providence

In Loving Memory

Amelotti, Deacon David

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Amelotti (nee Miller); loving father of David Patrick (Mandy) and Meredith Anne Amelotti; dear son of the late Charles and Helen Amelotti;  dear brother of Charles (Marjorie) Amelotti, Elaine (James) Weber, Robert (Sally) Amelotti, and the late Peter Amelotti. Our dearest uncle, great-uncle, Godfather, cousin, Deacon and friend to many.

Dave was a graduate of Prep South, class of 1971.  He attended Cardinal Glennon College and UMSL.  For over 25 years, he owned a St. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper route in Chesterfield.  He later owned and operated the Sunset Hills and Gravois Bluffs IHOP restaurants.  For the past five years, he was a loyal employee of Straub’s Markets in Clayton.
Dave was ordained to the sacred order of the diaconate on June 5, 1999.  Since his ordination, he served as a deacon in his home parish, Our Lady of Providence in Crestwood. He also assisted in the Pastoral Care Department at St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights.  Dave was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Griffin Council, #3586.
Dave was always very proud of his family, and enjoyed spending time with them.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and always enjoyed a great round of golf!

Services: Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, on Saturday, June 26, at 9:30 a.m. to Our Lady of Providence for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Masses or contributions to St. Vincent de Paul Our Lady of Providence, or de Greeff Hospice House preferred. Visitation Friday 3-9 p.m.

  1. To the entire Amelotti Family I am so very sorry. I came know Dave while both of us decided to venture into the supermarket business. We spoke often about closing in on retirement and opportunities that would allow us to enjoy life vs. dealing with the daily grind. Ironically, I met Dave after trying to mentor his son David in the news business. I came to understand the love of a father and son. That’s what I’ll remember best.

  7. My condolences to the entire Amelotti family. I was Dave’s lawyer in negotiations with the Post Dispatch in the late 1980s to establish the property rights of newspaper carriers. He was a wonderful family man and his spirituality always showed through in his daily life.

Your mom dad were always a joy to be around. Positive and encouraging seem to be their way of life. I enjoyed any brief encounter that I had with him. I will be keeping you in my prayers. You had a great role model!

Betty and family. Irene called yesterday to tell me of Dave’s passing. I wish we didn’t live in Florida so we could be with you and your family. But, I will try to see you when I am finally able to travel safely. May our Lord and Saviour provide you peace, strength, and courage. We have many fond memories with you and hope to make many more.

  21. Dave was a personal friend since 1971, when we first met as students at Cardinal Glennon College. We played on numerous softball teams (back in the day) and he was the organizer of many of those teams! I worked the Saturday/midnight shift with him in the early days of his Post-Dispatch paper delivery business! Most of all, I remember his commitment to God and how his vocation resulted in double-joy: marriage and ministry of deacon. I did not know of his passing until July 11, but my wife Randy and I send our condolences to Betty and their family. Dave was a man of passion and commitment; he was a hard worker and was very, very dedicated to any endeavor in which he took part! He was loved and revered by many…he will be greatly missed but even more greatly REMEMBERED!
