Busiek

In Loving Memory

Busiek, M. Jean

M Jean Busiek(Broz) died Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2022 after a 16 month battle with kidney cancer at the age of 65. Jean was born Jan 6, 1957 to the late Joseph A Broz and the late Catherine E Broz(O’Hanlon) in St. Louis, MO. She was the 3rd of their four girls (Mary Jo Shoemaker, Marilyn Gregory and the late Michelle Broz). in 1974, she graduated from De Sales High School in St. Louis, in their last graduating class as the school closed. She spent her early years and every summer at their family farm, she always considered that her real home. As an adult, she had many jobs, but her most gratifying to her were the Carondelet Community Betterment Federation (where she met her husband, Rich Busiek), the Ronald McDonald House(helping the kids and their families) and her most recent job: the Archdiocese of St. Louis Shared Accounting Office.

Her pride and joy was her family: her husband, her children(daughter Mary, her husband Chris Nelson, son Joseph, and son Scott, and his wife Megan). Her favorites, as everyone who has met her knows, are her grandchildren, Anthony, Sabrina, Clayton and Michelle Nelson, and Conner, Caroline and Colin Busiek(whom she never got to formally meet due to the timing of her death). We all know that Jean had a way of making friends wherever she went did her best to encourage and uplift all of them. She loved teaching children’s liturgy, telling stories, and reading to kids any chances she got. The Grace Union Church family was a source of great inspiration and joy for her as well!  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Grace Union Church 3900 Union Road, St. Louis, MO 63125, appreciated.

Jean will be sorely missed by us all. Respecting her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. She will be cremated and her ashes spread on her family farm, as she requested. There will be a Celebration of Life Party, held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 2pm until 7pm. It will be a potluck dinner at Grace Union Church (3900 Union Road, St. Louis, MO 63125). Please bring a side dish, as our family and specific friends will be providing the meat, drinks, desserts and paper products.

  1. Jean is one of the most awesome person I know . We worked together . There wasn’t a day her smile and positivity didn’t light up the office . When I left the archdiocese I would call her when I needed uplifted. She never failed me . She was truly blessed . I loved hearing her stories about her family .Jean will be truly missed . I believe she is in her happy place watching over everyone .
