In Loving Memory

Chase Daniel Waters

Chase Daniel Waters, 19, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020.  Chase leaves his parents, Gayla (Stone) Waters, Eric Waters, Jr., and Kathleen (Geiler) Waters, brothers Zachary and Jacob Waters, sisters Megan (Alex) Viehman and Chelsey Comia, grandparents James and Andrea Stone, and Eric Waters, Sr., his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephew.  Chase was also an “adopted” member of the Elwood family.  He was preceded in death by grandparents Joan (Blankenship) and John Hummert, as well as his infant brother Samuel.

Chase was a 2019 graduate of Fox High School where he excelled at football, basketball and track.  He was finishing his freshman year at Quincy University, majoring in Special Education, and was looking forward to hitting the field his sophomore year.  His ultimate goal was to give back to his community as a teacher and coach. Chase’s impish grin and ability to make us laugh were matched by his non-discriminating heart and humble nature.  You couldn’t help but love him and his silly sweetness.  Even if he made you mad, you couldn’t stay that way for long.  He loved his family, and extended family, madly, and wasn’t afraid to tell them.  He never parted ways or hung up the phone without telling you that he loved you.  His hugs were all-encompassing and full of the warmth from within him.  He always made time to help, willingly and willfully, expecting nothing in return.  Chase was genuine in his love, empathy, and concern for others. Chase gave his all in every sport he participated in; not to be the best, but to be his best.  His football family meant the world to him, especially his coaches, who he looked up to.  He never wanted to let anyone down and took any loss to heart. Chase brought love, joy, and light to so many lives. The size of the hole he has left in our family, our community, is immeasurable.  Instead of focusing on what Chase will never get to be, let’s focus on all that he was. In such a short time.

Services: Visitation at Kutis South County Funeral Home , 5255 Lemay Ferry Road,  on Monday, May 11, from 4-8 PM with private services.

  15. Words cannot begin to express my deepest sympathy for the pain and sorrow you are going through. My heartfelt prayer is that God will give you strength and peace to get through this most difficult time.

Chase and my son, Blake, were very good friends for the past 11 years. Chase was an awesome kid who had a heart of gold. He was a friend to any and everyone and had a smile that was so infectious and would light up a room. Of all Blake’s friends, Chase was one of the most thoughtful, caring and compassionate kids I had the pleasure to know. He would do anything for anyone and always stood by my son’s side through thick and thin.

Chase touched the lives of so many people and was an amazing young man, with his whole life ahead of him. A life taken way too soon. So many hearts have been crushed by such a great loss.

May you find comfort in knowing Chase is soaring high above us now, in God’s perfect peace. Heaven truly gained an angel. Chase will forever hold a special place in so many hearts and the cherished memories of him will live on.
