In Loving Memory

Erp, Debra Jo “Debbie”

October 20, 1951 - August 31, 2023

Erp, Debra Jo “Debbie” Of St. Louis, Missouri entered eternal rest on August 31, 2023.

Born on October 20, 1951, Debbie was proceeded in death by her beloved parents Albert and Rose Marie Erp (nee Liss) and adored sister Donna Viragh (nee Erp).

Debbie was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, friend – and so much more – to many. She is survived by her nephews Don Viragh (Tanya), Chris (Anjie) Viragh, Andy Viragh (Andrew Mayo), her brother-in-law, Bob Viragh, her great nieces, Savannah Viragh, Emily Viragh, Olivia Viragh-Mayo, Brooklynn Sander, Lilly Sander, and Vivian Viragh and great nephew Benjamin Viragh-Mayo. She is proceeded by and survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends and companions.

Debbie knew no strangers. A typical day with Debbie was to mention someone by name or a city in the world and Debbie would find a way to connect a distant relative or friend. She was a lover of animals. Throughout her life she parented everything from cats and dogs to fish and turtles or the occasional squirrel, and most recently her cherished bird Cheeks.

Debbie loved all those around her unconditionally without judgment. Her daily mission in life was to provide for others and be supportive to those around her. She always took time to make sure those around her knew her love. Her heart was enormous, and it held a space for all those she met. Over the years, those spaces began to have voids which were previously held by the Earthly presence of her father, mother, and sister as well as close friends and companions. Her family takes Peace that she is now reunited with those for whom she grieved. One of Debbie’s favorite books was The Little Prince, and her life can be summed up to a simple quote from its content; “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

  1. Dear Debby
I was shocked to hear about your passing.
Your warm and kind personality, your genuine interest and your open vison should be an example for all of us. I had the honor to meet you during my internship and felt like I have known you for yours after the first minute.
    You will be missed.

  2. I was very saddened when I heard of your passing Debbie. I met you at St., George grade school. We dated and became a couple in the eighth grade. You always seemed to be very joyful, witty. upbeat and willing to help anyone with anything if you could.. Eighth grade was the best year spent with you and our friends. My condolences to your family and friends .

  3. Yesterday Debbie, they buried your earthly remains. That was a very sad sad day for all your family and friends. I’m sure now, you are experiencing the joy that St. Paul said when he described heaven, “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it entered the heart of man what god has ready for those who love him.” Enjoy heaven my friend, and please pray for us all.

  4. Hi Miss Debbie,

This is your 2nd cousin, Kristine.

I’m writing you today on the day we ‘met’ one year ago, 12-10-2022.

You have been in my thoughts often, and when I read that your name is actually Debra Jo I just smiled.

What a sweet old fashioned country cowgirl sort of name.

Reminds me of the pictures I’ve seen of you
    as a child.

So I am sending you immense love and thinking of how wonderful it was to meet you via email and the truly lovely conversations we had.

    x o
