Gabrielle M. Ittig, or Gaby as she was known, passed away peacefully Saturday 25 November, 2023 following a short illness. She was the beloved youngest daughter of George and Marguerite Ittig, sister to Georgi Ann (Ittig) Fox, and known to her nephew, Alex Fox, and her niece, Genny Fox Malcolm, as Tià Gaby. Gaby was a 1963 graduate of the then ‘new’ Visitation on Ballas Road. Outspoken and full of zest for life, Gaby would call a birthday recipient early in the morning to sing ‘ Happy Birthday’. An avid animal lover, she kept goats, stray cats, dogs, and her beloved rabbits, and, in her devotion to living things, kept her Christmas tree up as long as possible, because she could not bear to see it discarded. Gaby was a near lifelong resident of St Louis, and later of Sparta, IL, but the family’s lake cabin in Gordon, WI, provided Gaby with many a tale to tell over a family dinner, sometimes laughing so hard she could barely speak.
Services: We will mark her life with a simple graveside service at Calvary Cemetery (5239 West Florissant Ave. 63115) on Thursday December 14 at 11:00 AM. A service of KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL.
Please accept my sympathy and prayers, Alex and Genny.
Gaby and I were childhood friends and classmates at Visitation. During the past several years, we had many conversations full of her outrageously hilarious stories and comments, our walks down Memory Lane, and our shared love of Jesus. May she rest in the eternal peace of Christ.
Love and peace,
Cecilia (Ceil) Muellerleile Castellano
As the younger sister of Cecilia (Ceil) Muellerleile Castellano, I knew Gaby but from afar, as I was in awe of her. Staggeringly beautiful, witty, bright, fashionable and full of life, I would sometimes see her, as she lived in our neighborhood. She was the beloved daughter of our Mom’s dear friend, Marguerite, and also a “Viz girl” as was I. She was positively radiant and someone I admired.
In these recent years Ceil would keep me current on Gaby’s stories, jokes, adventures and trials. And in these shared stories of the remarkable Gaby, I once again sat in awe and inspiration of her determination, will, love of her animals and faith in the Lord.
May the good Lord wrap her in His loving embrace, welcoming her home.
With prayers and sympathy,
Marianne Muellerleile

OMG. I can’t stop crying. I worked with Gaby at the STL club and we remained friends all this time. This year. Armed the first year I missed her birthday as I was in the ICU. I went to pick up the phone to call her, got a fast busy on her phone and knew something wasn’t right and now I know why. She was a sister from another mother. Rest in peace dear-dear friend.
Wanting to keep the candlelight burning in memory of one of the most amazing and remarkable person I’ve ever known. I miss you like crazy sweet Gaby and I’ll never forget our friendship. See you on the other side. Love! Hugs and prayers always!
