In Loving Memory

McKinney, George E.

November 17, 1931 - April 19, 2026

Passed away on Sunday 4/19/26. Loving husband of Doris McKinney (nee McMullen). Beloved father of Lisa Vaughn, Scott (Nancy) and Tim (Fran) McKinney. Cherished grandfather of 8, great grandfather of 6. Our dear uncle, cousin and friend.

George was married to Doris Jean for 67 years.  He would say, “she is the love of my life”.  They were always by each other’s side throughout their marriage.  He had strong family values, he knew Christ as his Lord and Savior.  His values were instilled by his father who raised four children by himself from 1936 to 1963 after his mother’s sudden passing when he was five years old.

He finished his education in Engineering at Washington University in Structural Engineering.   When he finished that degree he was a draftsman for S & P for 10 years, then engineered for Monsanto and the Benham Group for 20 years each.

More importantly than any of his education and work accolades is the fact that his life was centered around family and faith.  He enjoyed sharing family stories and examples of his faith with anyone and everyone.

Services; Funeral at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry) on Sat. 4/25 at 3PM. Private Interment at JB National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation Fri. 4/24 from 4-8PM

  5. Uncle George was always in my life. He and Uncle Bowen were my young baby sitters. I loved hearing their stories of the antics they did with me. He was truly one of the sweetest men I ever knew. He was so loved at McKinney High School and was everyone’s Sweetheart. I loved being in his and Aunt Doris Jean’s wedding. I will truly miss him and our telephone conversations.

  6. Great Uncle George was truly GREAT! He was so genuinely kind and sweet and always made those around him feel special and loved. I always appreciated his stories of our ancestors and I loved hearing his stories of my Mom from when she was growing up. I know he is now in Heaven and has reunited with his parents and siblings, but his presence on Earth will be deeply missed.
Our Louisville family is grieving and sending love and prayers to Aunt Doris Jean, Scott, Tim, Lisa and family as we all attempt to navigate the painful loss of his presence.

  7. Mr. McKinney – was the most loving man I knew. He smiled and made everyone feel welcomed, always. He had so much grace; no one could do any wrong in his eyes. He will be missed here on earth, but he is singing in the Roll Up Yonder right now. Sing away Mr. McKinnery!
