Michele Marie Poniewaz, 70, of St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20th. 2025 at the Monarch Springs Nursing Facility in University City.
Beloved daughter of Edward and Audrey Poniewaz and stepdaughter to Ronald Mueller. She was the long-time companion of Michael Hoak and sister to Edward Poniewaz Jr. (Sue) and Gregory Poniewaz (Jane). She was an aunt to Jack Poniewaz, Alina Bolton (Mike), and Brigette Schubert.
Born October 6, 1955, Michele grew up in Jennings, MO and attended Corpus Christi Grade School, Corpus Christi High School, and Rosary High School, before graduating from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She loved her family, friends, and co-workers, and though beset by many medical problems, enjoyed a humble but satisfying life.

I’m so sorry to hear about Michele’s passing. We all have many fond memories of the vacations our families took together , the times we sat around the kitchen table playing board games while our parents went out together and the 4th of July picnics at Springdale.
I’ll pray for the repose of her soul.

Ed and Greg, I am so sorry to learn about the death of your sister, Michele. Having lost one of my sisters, I know and understand your grief. Please know Michele and your families will be in my prayers.
The good news to take from this is that she is in pain no more and resting comfortably in the lap of your Mom and Dad. I’m sure Jesus and His Mother, Mary, are checking in with them constantly too. (Smile)

Ed and Greg and your families. Remembering Michele from days at Corpus Christi and at Jennings. But mostly as your beautiful sweet sister and from our great neighborhood we grew up in. Your parents and mine had so much fun together. I will keep you all in my prayers. I wish I could make it on Sat. St. Stanislaus goes way back to my childhood with my grandparents.
