February 3, 1943 - August 21, 2023

Monday, August 21, 2023.  Beloved husband of Judy Schlichting (nee: Marrs).  Dear father of Irene (Scott) Peterson and Chris (Julie) Schlichting.  Dear grandfather of Zachary (Jessica) Peterson, Evan Peterson, Phillip Schlichting, Lucy Schlichting, Drew Peterson and Greg Schlichting.  Dear great grandfather of Greyson Peterson.  Dear brother of Neil (Kathy) Schlichting.  Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Wayne embraced his 80 years with love of his family and church.  Born in St. Louis, he attended Lutheran Central High School after that he went into the Air Force, he was stationed at Elsworth AFB in South Dakota where he met Judy and they were married for 58 years.  After the service he worked as a machinist for Lincoln and Tempset as well as retiring from Sunnen.  He was active in his church, Saint Thomas/Holy Spirit, where he served as a property committee member for several years and helped with several projects.  He also worked on organ refurbishing projects in the community as well as volunteered with the MDC Disabilities fishing event in Forest Park. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and volleyball in his younger days as well as being involved with the Boy Scouts of America.

SERVICES:  Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Road on Sunday, August 27, 4 – 8 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at St. Thomas – Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (3980 South Lindbergh Blvd. Sappington, Missouri 63127) on Monday, August 28, 10:00 a.m.  Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Feed My People or St. Thomas – Holy Spirit Lutheran Church appreciated.
