Gary Emerson Smith, 79 years of age, of Englewood, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 5th with his family by his side in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Gary was born to parents Ralph E. Smith and Winifred D. (Mitchell) on September 6, 1942, in Penn Yan, New York. Gary graduated from Dundee Central High School. Dad was a proud Navy Veteran. After the Navy, dad worked for Kodak in Rochester, New York, later he worked for Morton Salt Mine, Copper Mine in Arizona, and AMAX Lead Mine in Missouri.
He was married to Judy A. (Lynn) on February 23, 1963. Gary is survived by his sister, Janine Putnam of Pennsylvania, and sister, Nora Statler of Dexter, Missouri. Sister-in-Laws, Wanda Bailey, of New York, Joyce Tyler and husband Donnie of New York, and brother-in-law Paul Lynn and special friend Carol Robeson of New York. Daughter, Luann Jadwin and husband Scott of Salem, Missouri, son, Brian Smith and wife Kim of Salem, Missouri, and son, Steve Smith and wife Barbara of Hillsboro, Missouri, as well as a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and special friend, Claire Shugrue-Pannier of Englewood, Florida.
Preceding him in death were: His parents, Ralph and Winifred Smith, his mother-in-law Marcella Lynn and father-in-law, Elwood Lynn, his loving wife, Judy A. (Lynn) Smith, sister, Gayle Batterson Gulyas, Sister-in-law, Donna Lynn, Brother-in-law Ray Bailey, Richard Batterson, and Dr. J David Putnam, and nephew, Jeff Bailey.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kutis Funeral Home on Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, Missouri. Visitation and funeral will be from 10:30 a.m. (Family), 11:30 a.m. (Public), and Service at 12:30 p.m. Followed with burial at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with Military Honors at 1:30 p.m. In Lieu of flowers donations to Backstoppers, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and Sacred Selections greatly appreciated.

I knew his sister, Janine, in my class in Dundee. I’m very sorry for your brother’s death. My parents knew Gary & Janine’s parents and my dad taught art to Gary when in school. My husband Tom an I send our condolences.
