Wetteroff

In Loving Memory

Wetteroff, Tracy Carol (Lyston)

Tracy Carol (Lyston) Wetteroff died on January 26, 2021. She was born in St. Louis on July 22, 1970 to parents Edgar and Carole Lyston and married Robert Wetteroff on October 14, 1995.

Tracy was a devoted daughter, sister to Keith Lyston (of Chesterfield) and aunt to Abigail, Sophia, Jacob and Samantha. She is survived by a loving extended family and treasured friends.

Tracy attended Affton and Lindbergh schools graduating in the top 10 percent of her class from Lindbergh High School. She was part of the cross-country team, earned the Girl Scout Gold Award and represented the State of Missouri in a nation-wide event celebrating the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at Saint Louis University (magna cum laude) and Certificate in Paralegal Studies from the American Institute for Paralegal Studies. Tracy worked most recently as a corporate paralegal for Spencer Fane LLP and previously, at Stinson LLP.
Tracy lived with cancer for 22 plus years she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and 2007 and then Stage IV primary peritoneal cancer in 2015. Through the years she endured 13 surgeries, 37 chemotherapy treatments and over 75 days of radiation, not to mention countless tests, scans and doctor appointments. As a survivor, Tracy was a pillar of strength and courage and served as a role model for her friends and co-workers. Through the years she “gave back” by participating in awareness and fundraising events as well as serving on an institutional review board and reviewing research proposals to award grant money. She was frequently called upon as “the source” in cancer to help counsel new cancer patients. As the recipient of kind words, appreciate hugs, and a multitude of thank you cards over the years, Tracy had the satisfaction of knowing she made a difference in people’s lives.

Each time she passed a cancer milestone she thought of a creative new license plate to mark the occasion. Perhaps you saw her car around town? Through the years Tracy changed her license plate from that of SUR5N, to 2X-C5R, to ENUFF, and finally IV-WARD.
The family would especially like to thank “Team Tracy”, “breast friends” and “food fairies” for their support and care during Tracy’s numerous rounds of chemotherapy treatments and suggest that donations be made to Siteman Cancer Center for its Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program.

Lastly, Tracy was an avid shopper and was frequently “accused” of always finding the perfect gifts. “There are those that give with joy, and that joy is their reward.” By Kahlil Gibran

In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made in Tracy’s honor to Siteman Cancer Center – Memo: Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program, Attn: Tracy Speller, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., MSC 1204, St. Louis, MO 63105

Services: Because of the Covid-19 services will be private at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. We will celebrate Tracy’s life this summer when it is safe.

  3. Tracy brightened up my whole high school experience -we ran cross country together and always had a blast at practices and races, eating school lunch together, hanging out with friends. So many fun get-togethers and parties at her parents’ house! She could always make me laugh, had a mischievous nature about her, and was so smart, thoughtful, kind, and determined. I am so grateful for her friendship over the years. She will be incredibly missed.

  7. Tracy was a kind, smart and caring woman. She had a way of including everyone and you always left her company learning something new. I will miss seeing her on Facebook and at the Girl Scout reunions. She fought long and hard. Her struggles allowed her the ability and insight to help so many others overcome their struggles. Please know you are all in my prayers. May your hearts fill with happy memories that bring her spirit close. Thank you for sharing her with all of us.

  17. Tracy we will all miss you soooo much! Your were always such a light in the room. You were the best gift giver I knew. You taught ever one around you what it is like to be gentle, but strong. You have helped some many people through their journey with cancer. The beauty of what remains is your legacy of kindness, loving person, supporter, giver, compassion and so much more. Thank you for being such a great teacher and role model of so many great characteristics.

  25. I will always wish I had known Tracy better, but having struggled with breast cancer myself, she was one of the first friendly faces I saw when I started attending YWBCP. I’m so glad I got the chance to witness her fierce courage and amazing spirit, and I will never forget her.
